Break out your skimpy shorts and get ready to FREEZE your buns off!
We want to invite you and your friends and family to the 2025 FRIGID 5K and Penguin Plunge! It’s a great way to start out the year and break free from the winter running blues!
The FRIGID 5K and Penguin Plunge have been the premier winter event for over a decade. The starting line for the 5K is at the Provo Boat Harbor where you will enjoy the short, yet challenging course. After the 5K, finish the event off with the Penguin Plunge.
Challenge yourself and brave the frigid cold by jumping into the Utah State Lake. Our team skillfully cuts out a square of ice and inserts a safety cage to keep plungers safe. If you choose to opt-out of taking a dip in the lake, feel free to watch the faces of those who are crazy enough to take the dive!
At Runtastic Events, we value the safety of our race participants and strive to create a fun and safe environment. Both the 5K and Penguin Plunge have first aid booths readily available for participants.

We want to invite you, as well as your family and friends to this freezing FUN event! It’s a great way to start out the year and break free from the winter running blues! $2 of each registration will be donated to The Wolfpack Running Club.

There is day-of registration for the 5K and the plunge, unless the event is sold out. Register early so you don’t miss out!

Packet Pick Up
Where: Building at Utah Lake State Park
When: Friday, January 24th from 11 AM to 7 PM
Please pick up your packet, bib number, beanie, and race swag at the packet pickup the day before the race. You must have a photo ID to pick up your packet. You may pick up someone else’s packet if you have a copy of their photo ID.
Packet Pick Up is also available NO LATER than 8:30 a.m. on the day of the race inside the building at the Provo Boat Harbor. A $15 day of packet pickup fee will apply.

RACE AMENITIES
Photos
Look for photographers at the start line, along the course, finish line, and photo backdrops in the runner’s corral. We are providing your social media pictures for FREE!
Timing & Bibs
The Frigid 5K will be professionally timed. The chips will be attached to the back of your bib number. Please don’t wrinkle or stuff the bib in your pocket.
The first 3 places, male and female, will be determined by gun time (regular timing). All other awards will be determined by using Chip Time.
- Gun Time is the time elapsed from the sound of the gun to the finish line.
- Chip Time is the real time from when the runner crosses the starting line to crossing the finish line.

Note: If you alter or damage your chip your time may not be read correctly. Wear your bib on the outermost layer of clothing.

The top three finishers, Male and Female of the 5K will receive a certificate, and free entry into the 2026 Frigid 5K race in their respective categories.
