I ran to support the end of COVID-19, but also as a goal/reward to myself for my healthy lifestyle changes. I have asthma and yes, I did smoke in my 20’s and part of my 30’s, but I made the best decision to quit after a 10 day asthma related hospital stay. Once home, never, ever touched another cigarette, but it wasn’t until my late 40’s that I started working out, power walking and jogging. I’ve done stair climbs at Chicago’s 3 tallest buildings, a Mudathlon, a Mud Terrain, many 5k’s and this is my second 10k and I’m now 52 years old! I am in better shape now than I was in my 20’s!
I was excited to see this Virtual COVID-19 Race so I immediately signed up to support it and further encourage and challenge myself! I’m also excited to receive all the swag for completing the race.
Thank you for offering these races as a means of fundraising as well as for personal growth and fitness!!
