string(5188) "Dear Runners,
We are extremely thankful for your support this year! We feel fortunate that we have been able to work with cities and health departments to hold many of our events. We work extremely hard to create magic while also creating a healthy and safe environment for our participants. We thank our runners for helping us maintain these health requirements, for trusting us, and for participating in these events.
Our last location event of the year is the Thankful 13 Run on Thanksgiving morning. We know turkey trots are a big tradition for many people and their families and we want to help you keep that tradition alive!
Below you will find all the careful measures we are implementing on Thanksgiving morning for our Lehi location event. We have also created a virtual option for those celebrating Thanksgiving far away or who would feel more comfortable running from home on a course of their choice.
THE START
In an effort to reduce and eliminate congregating as much as possible we have designed an open, or continual, start for all distances. This will allow you to park, warm-up, maintain social distance, and start your race without waiting in a corral. For Elite runners who may win an overall place, you must start during the elite start. Overall awards will be based on gun time. For everyone else, your start time will be chip timed and will begin when you cross the start line.
This change will not only eliminate congregating at the start but will allow for greater social distancing along the course and at the finish line.
Start Times:
Half Marathon
Elite Start: 7:45 a.m.
General Open Start: 7:46 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.
10K
Elite Start: 8:00 a.m.
General Open Start: 8:01 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
5K
Elite Start: 8:15 a.m.
General Open Start: 8:16 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
Kid’s Run
General Open Start: 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
FINISH LINE
The finish festivities have been reduced greatly this year. You’ll still get the great finish line and amazing finisher medal but will need to minimize your interactions and quickly move from the finish area. We have always enjoyed interacting and sharing your success after the race. This year we ask that you do it through social media. We have created a Facebook group where you can share your experience and post photos of the day. It is also a great place to find motivation and get timely information about the events. You can join by clicking this link: Runtastic Events Facebook Group
At the finish line, you will receive your finish award and a prepackaged goodie bag.
Our photographers will be out on the course and at the finish line but will not be taking pictures at our usual post-race photo backdrop.
The results trailer will be available for your preliminary results printout.
There won’t be an in-person awards ceremony this year. Age group awards will be based on chip times and winners will have their medal mailed out following the race.
THE EXPO
The expo this year will require social distancing and has been set up accordingly. The Entrance and Exit will be at different locations so people won’t have to pass by others.
The expo will be reduced to a few choice vendors. You will receive an email with your bib number so that you can come straight to bib pick up and receive your packet. We are implementing ways to reduce lines and controlling the occupancy of the building to create a safe atmosphere.
Facemasks will be required to wear at the expo, before the start, and after the finish. We will have plenty of disposable masks available at those locations for you to use.
