The Marathon Mind
-April 8, 2020-
As we face a global pandemic many of us are taking a look at our health habits as we resolve to take better care of ourselves. Here are a few simple guidelines to help you fuel your body for long term health:
1. Fewer Ingredients
Eat food as close to the source as possible. Whole, healthy foods will nourish your body and allow it to perform. Fewer Ingredients = Better
2. Fats are Good!
Fat is not the enemy. Fats are the carriers of nutrients and flavor. Many Key nutrients found in vegetables are fat-soluble and become more readily absorbed when eaten with fat. Bring on the avocados!
3. Avoid Sugars
Avoid sugar as much as possible. You’ll find that you crave sugar a lot less, the less you eat it.
4. High Protein
Try and balance your meals with a high-quality protein source, a healthy carb, and healthy fat.
5. Mindset is Key
Your mindset will be what helps you stay successful as you strive to eat a healthy diet. If you come from a place longing for junk food, it will be harder to stick with it. White knuckling your “diet” won’t last for the long term.
